May weddings!!

Added by Francis Lawyler the 20 October 11 at 22:00

All May brides-to-be where are you!?

How are you decorating, where are you wedding, whats you dress like? I want to hear all about it, because I myself don't know have much planned .. YET.

I want a long flowy dress, white, lace on top, and want a cream wedding with hues of light blue and touches of grey and pale pink.

I want it in our church with a reception in a hotel perhaps, so family and close friends can spend the night after the partying.

I am looking at halls, hotels, inns, boutiques for my dress and veil, cake shops, trying to work out a budget somehow.

That's all for now, more updates soon I hope!

Hi Rachel

I am officially 100% EXCITED! and have had difficulty sleeping the last few nights because I cannot wait for Saturday. Yesterday evening we had our rehearsal at the church and it made it all real that I am getting actually getting married.

I am pleased to hear that your wedding dress is almost as you want it to look, and I am sure that when your H2B sees you on 26th May his breath will be taken away.

I am sure we will 'speak' again before your big day, but until then take care and enjoy the next few days.

Regards

Linda

Hi Linda - are you on countdown now? 5 more sleeps!

I have had my final fitting until I pick my dress up a couple of days before, I am really happy with the fit but I asked for some extra sparkle to be added and I wasn't as impressed with that. I had an image in my head and it did not meet expectations at all. I told the dressmaker and she is adding more...I am planning to go and have a look at it nxt week and see if any better. Will be too late otherwise and she has charged us a substantial amount in addition so I really want to see more!

Yes my honeymoon packing is on the way, just a matter of adding final bits really, I have also got in mind what I need to pack for my overnight bag too so that won't take me too long.

H2B had his stag do at the weekend....came back worse for wear! Think he is off drink for a little while now.

All my final details are nearly done now, one or two more gifts, we have 3 weeks to go!

Have a fabulous wedding day!!

xx

Hi Rachel

I know, can you believe it is May next week and our wedding month!

Although it has been about 18 months since we got engaged and also started planning our wedding, the time has really gone quick, and I can hardly believe that next Saturday afternoon I shall be a married woman. The irony of all this is that I am a dvorce lawyer and some of my client's and colleagues think it is funny that I am getting married when I am acting for them on their marital breakdown!

Like you and your H2B me and my hubby are also like ships that pass in the night at the moment so we are looking foward to the days after the wedding and also our honeymoon when we can spend our quality time together. That reminds me have you started packing for your honeymoon. A friend of mine recommended it and it was good advice because the 4 weeks before your wedding will pass in a flash and you just run out of time to do all those last few things.

We have our final meeting with the events manager at our venue this Saturday afternoon, so hopefully we will be able to iron out the last details as well as how the day will run, but I have to say that our suppliers have been wonderful - responding to my emails so unless there is a disaster I am sure everything will be ok on the day. Virtually everyone we invited is coming either to the full day or evening. The only ones who say they wont be coming are my stroppy cousins. But I am expecting some people may not turn up on the day without letting me know, but you have to expect that. The only thing that I cannot control about our day is the weather but hopefully the rain will stay away on our wedding days.

How is the dress fitting going? I was suppose to have my final fitting last Saturday but in the 3 weeks since my first fitting and adjustments I lost more weight and it has to be taken in again which is good because I have been working out so hard, in the gym nearly every day sometimes doing two hours of training. It has been bloody hard but worth it, but frustrating as I was hoping to put up my dress this weekend. I am at the bridal shop on saturday afternoon and it has to be the final fitting as there is just no more time. How is your exercise regime going and are you happy with how you look in your dress?

Regards

Linda

Hi Linda,

How quick has it come around since we starting swapping wedding info. I can't believe I only have 4 weeks-ish to go. I like you am now just looking forward to mine & H2B's big day and spending time with my new husband on holiday. He is working like mad at the moment so not seen much of him at all, every spare moment I get with him usually has a wedding question involved.

We have had nearly all our RSVPs back, and looking on track for a 'full' evening. We met with the reception venue last week to confirm all small details and even though both h2b and I have worked there it was nice to hear about how it will all go and be assured that they will take care of all the day for us. Feel like a weight was lifted and I don't need to worry about any of it anymore.

I hope it all goes to plan and you enjoy it. I am really hoping for good weather also, fingers crossed!

Hi Angie

Families can be difficult. The amount of tantrums we had to endure from cousins, aunts and also my mum, well lets just say I could write a short story. However, what I have come to realise is that it is my life, our day, our marriage and for the first time in my life, apart from the birth of my son, I am truly happy with this wonderful man and can't wait to be married . I am excited, but no nerves yet. I think they will kick in next Wednesday or Thursday and not sure I will be able to sleep the night before, but that's what make-up is for!! I am keeping my fingers crossed that the rain will hold off on the day.

Hi Linda

Yes I'm only having two bridesmaids. My eldest is 15 and doing a reading. My youngest is 11. My son is also my usher, he is 19. Its a shame about your h2b daughter, but I'm sure she'll come round at some point, having a daughter that age too I know what they're like! MY mum isn't coming to my wedding...long story!!!

Not long for you now. Are you getting nervous? I keep watching the days going down and it's scary! lol

Dear Angie,

Your wedding arrangements sound lovely and will be all the more special as your girls will be your bridesmaids; are you only having two? I have a 13 year old son and he will be one of our ushers as well being a reader. H2B has a daugther who I wanted as one of our bridesmaids but she has decided not to come to the wedding, which is a real shame. I am hoping that after the wedding she will want to get to know us and also be part of our new blended family, but she is nearly 16 and is at that age!!

Have you been tracking the weather reports for May, as it is suppose to be cold. I am hoping the weather men are wrong.

Hi Linda

I'm getting married in a hotel and having the whole day there. We are having 49 for the breakfast and approx 100 for the evening, (hopefully, replies seem slow coming in lol) It's only a small hotel with 13 rooms, and we have them all booked for the Saturday night.

The girls looked lovely in their dresses, and the black shoes looked fine. Pretty much hidden under their dresses anyhow!

Hi Rachel

We can't afford a honeymoon, so we are just going to go and stay in a hotel for a couple of nights, away from the kids! No bikini's for me....(luckily for everyone! lol ) so no need for suncream :(

I'm mostly organised with everything, even down to the seating plan but haven't bought anyone a present yet! eek. One of my daughters wants a blackberry phone for her bridesmaid present.....yeah right lol My youngest just wants a phone charm, bless! They'll get what theyre given hehe

Hi Ladies,

I intend to take my H2Bs name, Being honest I have panicked a bit about this - it feels strange that I will suddenly be a Mrs, I think I will be likely to not think people are talking to me when they say 'Mrs Woolliscroft!'

I have been practicing my new signature already...only in the last few weeks, heehee!

I have 6 weeks to go now and nearly everything is done, I am stocking up on suncream and holiday bits now.

Have you got a honeymoon booked Angie?

Hi Angie

It can be really difficult finding shoes to match bridemaids dresses, but black diamante will work well and look really elegant and your girls can wear them again, if they want.

I can totally understand why you don't want to keep your current surname as it is the start of your new life. This will be my first marriage, so the name I will be 'giving up' is my family name and I no longer have any siblings to carry on our name - silly I know in this day and age. My H2B has been married before so there is already a Mrs G! However, it is likely I will keep my current surname as registered at my son's school, but for everything else it will be Mrs G. So I suppose I should start to practise my new signature as I will be using it in just over two weeks time.

I was wondering are you having a big wedding and will it be in church or a civil ceremony?

Regards

Linda

Thanks Rachel and Linda.

My daughter loved the purple shoes in BHS but couldnt find any purple ones for my younger daughter. Youngest found some silver sandals but didnt find any for the older one! I have ended up with black silky diamante shoes for them both, will find out tomorrow at their dress fitting if they look ok! Fingers crossed lol

I am going to take my H2B surname. This will be my second marriage so I don't want to keep my current surname, although I know that I will still be called it by childrens schools etc probably!

Regards

Hi Angie and Rachel

Purple does seem to be the hot colour for weddings last year and this. Initally my wedding colours were pink and purple, but then I saw the pink and orange combo on another wedding website, and the rest they say is history.

Angie, if you have not yet bought your daugther's shoes how about silver, you could get sandles. I think it goes well with dark purple and they could wear them again especially during the summer.

Question for all the May brides, are you intending to take your Husband's surname as your last name after your wedding?

With my wedding fast approaching I am still undecided. Take day I was at a training event for women and we all had to stand up and say something about ourselves eek! and then do a sales pitch about our professions and I felt so comfortable saying I was Linda Pope. Also I have a son and I don't like the idea of us having different surnames especially for his school. But then when H2B and I go out and people already refer to me as Mrs George, and I do like the sound of it. I was thinking that maybe I would have a split personality at work and school I would still be Miss Pope, but in all aspects of our life I would be a Mrs - what do you think?

Hi Angie,

How bizzare, same date and similar colour, though purple seems very popular this year - when I chose it back in 2010 when I go engaged (if not when I was a little girl...) it wasn't that popular at all.

I only have one bridesmaid, we have got her shoes from BHS, there was a few I liked, the ones she went with are slightly lighter than I wanted, but she is only 13 and not done a lot of walking in heels so I was happy with whatever she could walk in. Her dress is knee length. Her first fitting is with me and my second in two weeks. We have sorted everything else for her now - I am a that point where most is done and I can enjoy it all now.

Linda,

My Hen night was brilliant, very spolit by my girlfriends and really enjoyed it. I am having another one locally in 3/4 weeks which I expect will be slightly more messy! I am really chilled about wedding now, my horse was kicked on Friday and had to go into the vets for a few days so I have used up all my stress on that! Fingers crossed she is going to make a full recovery and well before I leave for honeymoon. I too have been picking out outfits I have a new bikini which has 'Mrs Woolliscroft' (my new name) on the back - my H2B doesn't know about it..

6/7 weeks ish to go now....eeek!!

Hi Rachel

I am also getting married on the 26th May and having purple as my colour scheme....slightly darker than cadbury's purple though! Just wondered what colour shoes you have managed to buy to go with the bridesmaid dresses. I can only find purple shoes to go with my 15yr old daughters dress, and not any for my 11 yr old!! I'm now thinking I may have to go for black, they have long dresses so wouldn't show too much. They need to have their fittings very soon and it stressing me out lol!

Hey Rachel

I suspect that when you get this message you will be too busy enjoying yourself on your hen weekend and as they say what happens in Leeds, stays in Leeds!! My hen party is in two weeks time, I know nothing about the arrangements except that I have been told to bring two outfits one fancy and one that is not, all I have told my maids is once I don't wake up naked in France, I am up for all the cheesy hen traditions .

I totally agree with you about not stressing about the small details and difficult people, and that actually everyone wants the best for us and for our day to be a success. when I stopped being a bridezilla I started to enjoy being the bride. I am also enjoying shopping for my honeymoon outfits - I know that I already have a zillion swimsuits and bikini's but what's another few dozen. Although H2B and I are so looking forward to our wedding day we can't wait to go on our honeymoon and spending quality time together.

Regards

Linda
