Allt Yr Ynys (pronounced alt-ur-inis) is centred on a beautifully preserved, 16th Century manor house, set in the foothills of the majestic Black Mountains on the fringes of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

A former Les Routiers Welsh hotel of the year, with an award-winning restaurant, Allt Yr Ynys is an excellent base for a wide range of outdoor and indoor leisure and recreational pursuits centred on the hotel’s own indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and clay pigeon shooting range.

Set in stunningly beautiful Welsh Borders countryside, on the fringes of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Black Mountains form a magnificent backdrop to Allt Yr Ynys Country Hotel (pronounced‘alt-ur-inis), offering a comprehensive range of resort facilities which has undergone extensive refurbishment both throughout the public areas and in many of the rooms following a flood late last year.

Lush lawned gardens lead down to the River Monnow fronting the hotel which, together with the Elizabethan Knot Garden in the walled gardens at the rear of the hotel create a simply perfect venue for your leisure break, conference, wedding or party, as well as for restaurant or informal dining.

Conferences, weddings and civil ceremonies are a speciality at Allt Yr Ynys and can be held in a number of rooms, the most popular being our Jacobean panelled Drawing Room.

Weddings & Civil Ceremonies

The setting, and quality and range of facilities and its tranquil yet easily accessible location combine to make Allt Yr Ynys an idyllic venue for Wedding and Civil partnership Ceremonies and Receptions.

Whilst we pride ourselves on the care we take with all our guests, we give particular recognition to the fact that your wedding, as the most special of events, must be a pleasure filled and enduring memory.

You will find us very flexible in terms of planning your wedding and meeting your particular requirements and, although we offer a comprehensive choice in our sample menus, nothing is ’set in stone’ and our chef and we would be delighted to discuss any personal preferences.

Flowers: We are happy for you to use your own florist, but would also be delighted to arrange flowers on your behalf.

Musical Accompaniment: This can be arranged by you, or we would be delighted to arrange musical accompaniment for your ceremony and/or evening party on your behalf.

Restaurant

At Allt Yr Ynys we offer a range of dining experiences from our newly refurbished, highly distinctive restaurant with its glazed vertical beams to ‘al fresco’ dining in our Elizabethan Walled Garden, snacks and light meals served in our bar and other areas of the hotel, or Afternoon Tea in our oak panelled Drawing Room.

Accommodation

Allt Yr Ynys has 20 beautifully appointed en suite bedrooms offering all modern conveniences sought by today’s discerning traveller.

The Jacobean 4 Poster Suite in the main house still retains its original oak panelling and 16th Century four poster bed together with a jacuzzi bathroom, and the garden bedrooms are in sympathetically converted stables, outbuildings and a newly built block (clad in the same stone as the main house and cut from the ground behind)) providing spacious and well furnished accommodation - most with views over the mountains and woodlands surrounding the hotel.

The end to a perfect day? A swim, followed by a relaxing sauna and then dinner in our award winning restaurant and probably the most relaxing night’s sleep you’ve ever had, lulled by the gently gurgling river and the odd hooting of owls in the distant trees.
