With 37 bedrooms and an excellent bar and restaurant, this is a fine base for enjoying the Brecon Beacons National Park. Its five function rooms are ideal for intimate dinners, meetings, banquets, weddings, exhibitions and conferences.
Weddings
From intimate gatherings to large weddings, Brecon Castle is ideal for the bride and groom looking for a traditional venue with professional service and old-fashioned values. The building is an historic site linking back to the foundation of the town; a coaching inn, which grew out of the ruins of the castle and in 1809, became one of the first modern hotels in Wales.
The Castle retains the warmth and character of a coaching inn and the Regency Ballroom, with the adjoining remains of the Great Hall of Brecon Castle, is undoubtedly the most attractive and historic venue in Mid-Wales. The Brecon Beacons dominate the town and provide a picturesque backdrop to our ballroom and our gardens.
The team at the Castle is made up of dedicated professionals and our aim is to provide you with a day to remember. The food and service that we offer are merely a part of the total service that we provide to all brides. We understand that the cost of a wedding reception can escalate and endeavour to ease your budget by providing comprehensive advice from our experienced team.
If you are looking for a beautiful and historic setting for your wedding, then the marriage of great service, food and a choice of either contemporary or traditional Georgian and medieval surroundings is exactly what you want.
We have a small team of experienced staff who will attend to your every need. We are here to advise and we will tailor our services to your personal requirements to ensure that your day is how you always dreamed it would be....perfect.
The Castle has two rooms approved for Civil Wedding Ceremonies:
- The Regency Ballroom is a grand and beautiful room on the ground floor with stunning views out onto the mountains and can accommodate larger ceremonies of up to 150 guests.
- The Crug Room is ideal for smaller intimate ceremonies of up to 50 guests.
Once pronounced "husband and wife" you may wish to wander into our South-facing terrace (weather permitting) with the backdrop of historic Brecon Castle and amazing views up to the Brecon Beacon mountains, which will provide the perfect setting for your wedding day photographs.
Accommodation
The Beacons View rooms in the main building (including one four poster room) are decorated in a contemporary style, most with Flat Screen Televisions, colour TV, Hairdryers, Tea & Coffee making facilities, generous sized double or twin beds and ensuite bathrooms. All rooms are non-smoking, one disabled bedroom and disabled facilities are available. There are Internet access ports in all rooms in the main building and WiFi in all public areas (including the main ballroom and function rooms). The adjacent Mews (the former stable block of the castle) has a further 2 double or twin rooms and 4 Family/Walker units.
We can therefore accommodate up to 82 guests within our own establishment (excluding children) and the town and surrounding area of Brecon can offer a further (approx) 200 bedrooms, all within a few minutes distance. We recommend our principal South-facing rooms in the hotel, which are our largest rooms for honeymoon couples or those wanting a romantic night away.
Dining
Our Head Chef, Sean Gibbs, produces a daily Table D'Hote menu which represents the best of seasonal British cooking. Modern and traditional dishes sit comfortably alongside each other, all freshly prepared, using the best of locally sourced meat, fish and Welsh cheeses.
Private Dinning Rooms
We can offerfour increasingly popular private dining rooms, each with a different atmosphere, from cosy Georgian paneling and open fire to business lunches, family special occasions or simply groups of friends wishing to dine together. In addition to our regular fine-dining and bar menus we offer a range of banquet and function menus to suit all budgets and occasions.
