Hardwick Hall Hotel

There has been an estate at 'Herdewyk' dating from 1183 and a manor house is recorded from 1435. The 1700's, during the ownership of John Burdon, were glorious days at Hardwick, the place was renowned for its parties, good living, fine ladies and true gentlemen... Then, in the 1900's, after a complex history of ownership, the Hall became a maternity home - the Boardroom was once the delivery suite! Hardwick developed an institutional blandness and it was from this state that it was rescued in the late '60's by the present owners.

Once an ambling local hostelry with 'a certain air', Hardwick has now been transformed into a sumptuously appointed and spacious fifty-one bedroom quality hotel with outstanding conference and banqueting facilities - The Coleman Suite.

Weddings

Hardwick Hall, once a former country seat of the squires of Sedgefield, must be one of the most beautifully situated Country Hotels in the North-East. Set in 120 acres of parkland, the Hotel offers a magnificent setting for your special day.

The Hotel now boast 52 individual bedrooms, all with every-day modern facilities expected by today's guest, including mini-bars, personal safes, ISDN, satellite TV, wide-screen TV with DVD, large bathrooms with walk-in showers, twin basins and deep baths.

Our six Premier Bedrooms are our 'jewels in the crown' and offer superb accommodation of the very highest quality, including Bang & Olufsen hi-fi systems and TV's as well as 42" plasmas in selected premiers.

The Hotel also now boasts superb function rooms in the magnificent new Coleman Suite with its Austrian Strauss Crystal chandeliers, and the redecorated Boyne Suite with its oil-painted ceiling.

Naturally, we still offer our re-sited Marquee during the summer, and our recently refurbished party room, the "Inn in the Park", or for that small affair our Boardroom.

All in all, Hardwick Hall is the perfect wedding venue.

Dining

For lunch the Hardwick Bar offers light meals and urbane comfort reminiscent of colonial days amongst leather sofas and graceful palms. A snug haven after dark - enjoy the fine selection of whiskies, brandies and beers.
