The elegance and charm of our Victorian Country House meets warm, personal service, luxurious interiors, stunning scenery and fine dining. Whether you choose to recline by the fire in our Drawing Room, take a stroll in our beautiful gardens or enjoy a sumptuous dinner created by our award-winning chef, Horsted Place is the perfect location to escape, relax and recharge.
Combine your stay with golf at the prestigious East Sussex National, a match on our tennis court or pampering treatments at the nearby Horsted Health Club and you have all the ingredients for the perfect short break or longer holiday.
Weddings
Horsted Place is the perfect venue for a country house wedding in the Sussex countryside. From the ceremony itself, to fine dining for your guests, your wedding can be as grand or as private as you’ve always dreamed it would be.
We have three areas licensed for marriage ceremonies: the warm and intimate Library can seat up to 50 guests while the larger elegant Terrace Room with French doors on to the formal gardens is the perfect setting for gatherings of up to one hundred. Ceremonies can also take place on the lawn with guests seated in front of the Victorian style summerhouse where the register is signed.
Beautiful backdrops
Horsted Place changes with the seasons, making the perfect backdrop for your wedding at any time of the year. In the winter, holly and ivy surround our roaring log fires, and in the summer, our glorious gardens, landscaped by Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe, are alive with colourful and fragrant plants and flowers. Spring brings snowdrops, daffodils and carpets of bluebells, and in the autumn our trees glow with the changing colours of the season.
Dedicated staff
Our dedicated staff are on hand to discuss your individual requirements and tailor make your wedding. If you are looking for ideas for flowers, and do not have a florist in mind, our in-house florist, Julia Crosthwaite, will be happy to advise. From the moment you place your special day in our care, we will provide the impeccable, friendly service that makes us what we are, and that has seen husbands and wives returning to celebrate their wedding anniversaries year after year.
Exclusive use
Horsted Place is available for exclusive use for twenty-four hours, which means that all our twenty bedrooms and suites belong to the wedding party on that night. We can only offer music and dancing if exclusive use is taken.
Dining & Menus
With our elegant dining room, award-winning chef and impeccable service, the restaurant at Horsted Place has all the elements expected in a country house hotel.
However, while it is formal dining, the environment is welcoming and unpretentious with well-spaced, intimate tables, west facing views of the setting sun and discreet, friendly staff. When darkness falls, the room is bathed in candlelight, and ideal for a romantic dinner for two, whilst the relaxed atmosphere lends itself perfectly to corporate entertaining or a meal with friends.
Everything is homemade from the finest seasonal produce, and our à la carte menu changes daily.
The Restaurant is open to residents and non-residents alike; with pre-dinner drinks offered in the laid-back comfort of the Drawing Room or on the stunning garden terrace along with coffee and brandy after the meal.
Accommodation
At Horsted Place, we care about the little things, which is why all of our suites and bedrooms are individually decorated for luxury and comfort and all are finished by hand with flowering plants, fluffy white towels, soft cushions and Egyptian Cotton bed sheets.
Whether facing the gardens, the country estate or the South Downs, each room has great views and all the suites have a separate seating area from which to enjoy them. We offer 24 hour room service should you fancy a cup of tea first thing in the morning, dinner in your private lounge area or a breakfast in bed!
From the leather and tartan finished “Edinburgh” suite to the relaxing soft tones of the “Nevill”, each room is designed to make you feel like a guest of the house, and not in a hotel at all.
