The George Hotel

Situated in the centre of Montrose, The George Hotel Montrose is a Georgian sandstone building which was built in 1814. The George Hotel Montrose is family owned with a warm and friendly lounge bar which has an open gas fire where you can sit and chat amongst friends.

Our Hotel has a superb 'a la carte' restaurant. The hotel has beautiful quiet flood lit gardens to the rear, used for wedding receptions, garden parties and lazy summer evenings where you can enjoy a drink and relax.

This is the perfect location for a stay in the Highlands, quiet but within striking distance of Aberdeen, Dundee, and the Grampians. There area plenty of local facilities for walking, angling, golfing, and sight seeing in the area. The George Hotel is ideal for short breaks and organised golf holidays.

Functions & Catering

The George Hotel has always been popular for functions, from weddings, christenings to conferences and team building weekends. A Facilities Manager is always in charge of every event, and together with our experienced staff, ensures that every aspect of the occasion runs smoothly. We also have a large garden to the rear of the Hotel which is available for functions and events.

Accommodation

Twenty-four en-suite bedrooms all with the usual modern day refinements are available with two four-poster rooms for bridal parties and a family apartment that sleeps five with additional cots on request. Most rooms already have high speed Wi-Fi Internet access with the remainder available at the end of the year.

Whatever your requirements or requests we will do our utmost to grant your wishes where possible.

Please note that the Hotel is undergoing a refurbishment phase with regards to the bedrooms, the one featured above is our model bedroom. There will be no disruption to guests during this period.

Bar & Restaurant

Here at The George Hotel we pride ourselves on the fact that we use only fresh, local produce in all our food from the Lounge Bar menu to our renowned Restaurant. We continue to change our menus to suit the seasons with the help our Brigade of Chef’s.

If a quiet drink with friends is in order then you can relax and unwind in our Lounge Bar around the open gas fire. With an A-Z of some fifty malt whiskies available or our award winning real cask ales on offer there is something for everyone.

Golf Packages

Golf in this area is renowned for the variety of courses available to just the beginners, or to the golfer requiring just a little more of a challenge. There are two golf courses in Montrose town itself, with the Royal Montrose Links being one of the most challenging courses of the area, with its deep bunkers, narrow fairways, and a total yardage in excess of 6500 yards.
