The Grand Hotel Tynemouth. More than a place to stay. Steeped in history and carefully refurbished with no expense spared to create its own individual style of elegance and luxury. The ideal venue for your wedding, conference or banquet.
Weddings
The Grand hotel, which was originally built in 1872 as a summer residence for the Duchess of Northumberland was converted to a Hotel some 20 years later.
Majestically situated on a cliff top commanding some of the most stunning views of natural coastline in the country, the Hotel has for over 120 years been the venue for many memorable wedding celebrations – each one different, and each one very personal and special for the happy couple. With a team of highly trained professional staff our aim is to offer you a complete wedding service, individually tailored to your wishes.
Your Wedding Reception Includes
- A personal welcome for your wedding party
- Personalised menu cards for each table
- Master of ceremonies
- Use of our cake stand and knife
- White linen napkins
- Use of our silver candelabras and silk flower decorations for the top table
- Special discounted bedroom rates for your guests
Weddings at The Grand
Civil Marriages were first introduced to private premises in 1995 and the Grand Hotel was the first in the region to hold a ceremony in a place other than a church or a register office. Since that time, hundreds of happy couples have been married by registrar within the hotels two licensed areas... the intimate Oak Room and the magnificent Orchid Suite. (Maximum seated capacities 100 and 130 respectively)
The Perfect Reception
On arrival you and your guests will be met at the entrance by our host/hostess and then directed to a bar area or state room where arrival drinks will be served.
Following arrival drinks and photographs, which normally last about an hour, a receiving line is formed at the entrance to your chosen dining room. This ensures that both families have the opportunity to speak to all the guests, but conversation should be kept to a polite minimum as the queue can become unwieldy.
From the time of sitting down, the wedding breakfast, including speeches, takes approximately two and a half hours.
