The Grand Hotel only hosts one wedding at a time - to ensure that you get its fullest attention in the planning and execution of your Wedding Day. The Grand holds a Civil Wedding license so it can host an entire wedding, Civil Partnership, Committment Ceremony or just the Wedding Breakfast alone.

The hotel has a dedicated team of wedding co-ordinators so you will be in experienced and competent hands - most helpful when it comes to planning the detail. The hotel also has a beauty clinic for last minute pampering or relaxing massage to help calm pre-wedding nerves!

Getting married in Torquay and holding your wedding or reception at The Grand gives you access to fantastic picture opportunities with backdrops that will add to the magic of the day. The Grand's outdoor pool is surrounded with landscaped gardens and there is a spacious terrace for your guests to gather on fair weather days. All with a view of the sea and a beach. The perfect romantic setting for a wedding in Torquay.

Wedding Breakfasts to feast on.

The Grand hotel has an award-winning chef at the helm so you can be confident you and your guests will have a delicious Wedding Breakfast to AA Rosette standard, using quality, locally sourced ingredients. The Grand has a number of set menu options to choose from but if you prefer to create your own menu then the hotel will be happy to work with you in catering to your requirements and budget.

Wedding room hire

Your choice of rooms: whether an intimate affair or a Grand celebration, The Grand has a function room to suit.

The Chatsworth Suite is perfect for an intimate Civil Ceremony or Wedding Breakfast. The room can cater for up to 12 people.

The Cavendish Suite is a delightful room with sea views and it opens onto the hotel's spacious terrace. It provides space for 60 people.

The Gainsborough Room is also the Hotel's restaurant and offers panoramic views out over the bay. This is an excellent choice for a Ceremony or Wedding Breakfast as it provides space for 180 people. As this room is a residential dining room, there are time limits with its availability.

The Devonshire Suite as everything to offer. It provides space for up to 200 guests for a Civil Ceremony, can cater for up to 140 people for a Wedding Breakfast or for 250 guests in an Evening Reception. The room has a domed ceiling, stage, dance floor and a private bar.

On a budget?

Why not hold your wedding on a Friday or a Sunday for a change? The Grand can offer a discount off the Wedding package and Evening Buffet for weddings held on Sundays - Fridays Just ask the Wedding Co-ordinator for more details.

Please note, as The Grand only hosts one wedding at a time, 60 adult guests is the minimum number required when booking a wedding package, especially on a Saturday. For smaller parties, please contact the Wedding Co-ordinator for a quotation.

Before any marriage can take place certain legal formalities need to be dealt with. Your Local Superintendent Registrar will be able to advise you of the correct procedure.

If you and your partner live in different Registration Districts, two notices of marriage will be required.

The ceremony will be organised and conducted by the Superintendent Registrar responsible for the Registration District in which the property is located. That officer will be accompanied by a Registrar of Marriage who completes the official Register and provides the all important Marriage Certificate.
