Today, the House is largely occupied with earning its living as a venue for entertainment which, after all is said and done, is not so far removed from the original intention of my ancestor, George Lyttelton.
We, the family, welcome all of you who want to share the beauty of this place either in quiet contemplation when we are open to the public or as a participant in any of the many functions that take place throughout the year.
Bespoke Weddings
Exclusive use of the Georgian Palladian Mansion permits civil ceremonies and drinks receptions which together with our experienced staff and bespoke wedding service will ensure that your special day is certainly one to remember.
The versatility of the Hall means you can choose to have a civil ceremony and reception for up to 120 guests or a ceremony, reception and wedding breakfast for 110 or a traditional wedding champagne reception (standing) for 250. Larger parties can easily be accommodated in a marquee within the grounds.
Church
It's thought that a church has stood on the site since Saxon times and there's evidence of a mediaeval building in the shape of a stone carving of the "Hagley Lion", dating back to about 1130. The church has changed much since then, particularly when it was virtually rebuilt in 1856, with the imposing tower added nine years later.
Marquees
If you have larger numbers then you can arrange for a marquee to be placed in the grounds with the Hall and parkland as a spectacular backdrop. We have 2 two level sites that are supplied with power and water.
The East marquee site is perfectly situated close to the hall and you can run a canopy from the hall itself. It can cater for numbers up to 300. The front lawn situated in front of the house can hold a function marquee for up to 1000. Both sites are very close to the hall and you can benefit from using the house facilities. If you choose a marquee with clear sides and gables then the wonderful views of the parkland and hall could still be admired from within.
Champagne Receptions
After the ceremony, enjoy champagne and canapés in the White Hall serenaded by a string quartet or even a solo pianist on the Family's baby grand piano. The Hall is flooded with sunlight and its wonderful arched lobby and scagliola figures of the Gods (including Bacchus and Venus) couldn't be a more perfect location to toast the newly wedded couple.
Civil Ceremonies
At Hagley Hall we understand that the ceremonial room needs to be perfect for such a special occasion. Therefore we have been careful to license a selection of State rooms so that no matter what your requirements you are sure to find a room that suits your wishes. The Saloon, with its ornate plasterwork, offers the most beautiful and historic setting with quintessentially English views of the village church and cricket ground. With 90 chairs arranged in theatre style and further standing room for up to 10 guests you still have plenty of room for a generous central aisle.
If your numbers are up to 120 then the Long Gallery with its breathtaking chandeliers and enchanting views of the deer park makes for a fairytale setting and at 26 metres long will make it perfect for showing off your wedding dress!
