Magdalene College

The College has it origins in the year 1428 when King Henry V1 approved the establishment of a hostel on the site for Benedictine monks. Beautiful lawns, stunning courtyards and the longest river frontage of any Cambridge College makes the ideal setting for your wedding.

The Pepys building, with its beautiful cloisters bedecked with hanging baskets, lends itself wonderfully to champagne receptions. The immaculate College grounds are a perfect setting for wedding photographs. And the magnificent 16th century College Hall, where the wedding party dines by candlelight, creates an atmosphere that is scarce rivaled elsewhere in Cambridge. Imagine walking through the ancient courts, retracing the steps of T S Eliot, C S Lewis, Samuel Pepys and Rudyard Kipling to name but a few.

The Ideal Wedding Breakfast

We have a variety of mouth watering menus to tempt you with. Alternatively if you would like to discuss your requirements, our experienced Head Chef will be happy to give advice on all aspects of your catering. In addition we can provide wine from our own cellar and have our own wine experts in College to advise you. We have a varied mix of rooms and locations available to ensure that you wedding will be perfect.

The 16th Century College Hall was originally the monastic refectory. It seats up to 100 people for a wedding breakfast, has a small gallery and is beautifully decorated with the Heraldic arms of Queen Anne. Dining is by candlelight.

The Parlour is a wonderfully intimate dining room, it is handsomely decorated with an altar-piece in plaster depicting the two Mary's at the Sepulchre (1756). The Parlour can seat up to 24 people for dining.

Ramsay Hall is decorated with pinewood panelling and can be used for an evening reception with a small unamplified band or disco, for up to 120 people.

The Pepys Cloister under the stunning Pepys building can be used for your Champagne reception and photographs

The Fellows' Gardens are beautiful, we are able to erect a marquee on the lawns for wedding receptions exceeding 100 people, this will be at the Conference Manager's discretion and during vacation periods only.

Accommodation

We have a room available for the Brides use on the day, and if available we can offer single, twin and double bedrooms some of which are en-suite. Our bedrooms are a mix of traditional and modern styles, they give guests a further insight into the uniqueness and beauty of the College.
