Nonsuch Mansion stands on the eastern side of Nonsuch Park close to the site of Henry VIII’s infamous Nonsuch Palace, long ruined but never forgotten.
For many centuries, all that remained of the palace were ruins, memories and the name - Nonsuch. This spirit was reborn under the reign of George III when a series of wealthy families built their mansion home within the park, evolving it over time into the fabulous Grade II listed building that you see today.
Whose wishing to find out more about daily life at the mansion can visit the Service Wing Museum to see working dairy, larders, sculleries and laundries run by The Friends of Nonsuch.
Six generations of the Farmer family lived here each leaving their own unique mark on the park and mansion before both came into public hands in the 1930’s and became, amoungst other things, a venue for hire and a space in which to celebrate.
In 2009, after a well documented period of closure, London caterers Bovingdons were appointed by the Joint Management Committee and Epsom and Ewell Borough Council to take over the contract for the event spaces and bring the mansion back to life.
Following careful refurbishment, the venue now enjoys a modern look that accentuates its Georgian period features as well as incorporating a few subtle contemporary twists.
As it enters a new chapter in its long history, Nonsuch Mansion continues to hold a cherished place in the heart, memory and daily life of the whole community.
Marry
Nonsuch Mansion is one of Surrey's most treasured celebration spaces, a Georgian gem set in the heart of 300 acres of sumptuous parkland. With any wedding, there are the essentials that make it happen and the details that make it yours.
The essentials; a meaningful setting that you both love, an entire mansion venue available exclusively for your family and friends, absolutely delicious food that will wow everyone...
The details; planning your wedding with people who like to say yes, biting into a bespoke menu, dancing to the coolest Dj in town, leaving by lantern lit pathways...
The original building dates from the late seventeen hundreds, but the greater part, including the south front and the staterooms, were rebuilt for Samuel Farmer between 1802 and 1806. He commissioned visionary architect Jeffrey Wyatt to recreate a “modern echo” of Henry’s Palace - elegant state rooms, striking parapets and stunning gardens all graciously mirror their majestic predecessor. Wyatt’s distinctive Tudor Gothic style can also be seen at his masterpiece Windsor Castle.
Cermonies
Nonsuch Mansion is licensed by Surrey County Council to hold Civil Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships in the Orchid or Rose rooms.
Receptions
When you hold your wedding celebrations at Nonsuch Mansion, eight elegant event rooms become exclusively yours.
The Orchid and Rose rooms are the main reception spaces and are licensed for ceremonies.
Either side of these two elegant Georgian staterooms are five flexible spaces flooded with natural daylight and filled with talking point period features. These rooms find their use according to the size and style of your reception.One-by-one, as day turns to night, each tall double door is thrown open transforming the ground floor into one capacious hall where you can dance the night away.
If your guest list is more like a cast of thousands, you also have the option of hiring a marquee.
Food and Drink
We freely admit to being obsessed with food; its taste, its look, every tiny ingredient.
Quality is paramount whether you choose a simple supper, comforting feast or extravagant banquet. Every plateful and bite communicates a message to your guests and we are here to ensure that your menu says the right thing about you.
Food may produce many moods and messages. It can be a talking point or provoke a revered silence. It should look heavenly and taste divine.
