Norwood Park is often described as one of England’s finest examples of Georgian country house venues. It combines both Georgian architecture, attributed to John Carr of York, with over one hundred acres of deer parkland, adorned with ancient oaks and orchards born out of the original Bramley apple developed in Southwell in the 1840’s. The Hall, home to The Starkey Family for five generations, is not open to the general public, allowing guests to enjoy the elegance of this beautiful period house in complete privacy.
Weddings
Norwood Park was awarded its marriage license in 1998, but couples were married under the Ancient Oak in Saxon times, so marriage is part of the great history of Norwood. In present times, the Civil Marriage for up to 75 guests can be held in the elegant Drawing Room with its magnificent views across the parkland towards the lake. A Dedication of your marriage can be arranged, following the ceremony, weather permitting, in the South facing gardens for up to 180 guests. Norwood Park is an exclusive hire venue so you can relax with your guests and your guests only.
Wedding Package
Their wedding literature gives you more detailed information about their packages. All weddings are exclusive use of the House and grounds.
Civil ceremony
The house was awarded its Civil Marriage License in 1998 and has since become renowned for wedding parties wishing to combine the Ceremony and Wedding Reception in one stunning location.
The late Georgian Stables and Coach House block, which were converted to fruit store in the late 1950’s, have been refurbished as a suite of Palladian style reception rooms with splendid views over the private cricket ground.
They are licensed to hold weddings in the Drawing room for up to 75 guests and the Gallery for up to 150 guests.
House & Gardens
Located less than a minute from the market town of Southwell, fifteen minutes from National Express Rail services to Newark Northgate, and approximately twenty minutes from Nottingham city centre, but set in over 100 acres of ancient deer parkland, Norwood Park is a haven of tranquility.
The House itself, overlooking the lake and apple orchards, was built in 1764 and was, at the time of its completion, as it is now, one of the great houses of the county.
Norwood Park , home to the Starkey family for five generations, is not open to the general public, allowing guests to enjoy the privacy of this beautiful period home in complete privacy. All events at Norwood are Exclusive use only.
Golf
Norwood Park is rapidly becoming one of Nottinghamshire’s premier golfing destinations. Both the 18 hole Norwood course (measuring 6805 yards off the back tees) and the 9 hole West Wood PAR3 course have been designed by Clyde B Johnston, past president of the American Society of golf course architects. He has succeeded in creating two magnificent layouts which blend perfectly with the historic parkland setting of Norwood Park.
