Receptions

Your wedding day will be one of the most memorable days in your life so naturally you will want everything to be perfect. Attention to detail is of paramount importance to us and we will ensure that your requirements are met in every way. If you are considering a registry office wedding, The Stables at Spains Hall are an officially licensed premises for both Civil weddings and Partnership ceremonies allowing you the flexibility of holding your whole celebration at one location, under one roof.

The venues

The maximum seating capacity in The Stables is 130, with additional guests able to join you for dancing and evening entertainment. The team at Spains Hall believe it is important you enjoy the experience of planning your wedding - free to make decisions and concentrate on the key issues so that you can assume the most important role of all - as the relaxed and happy couple.

The newly refurbished Stables at Spains Hall benefit from the provision of state-of-the-art facilities including underfloor heating, the latest audio visual and intelligent lighting equipment. You can be assured of all year round comfort.

Caterers

We have carefully selected our caterers to create superb menus from the finest ingredients and can advise on which wines from our extensive wine list will complement your wedding breakfast.

Le Talbooth Is one of the country’s leading restaurants and has specialized in outside catering throughout East Anglia for over 40 years. They have catered for the region’s most prestigious events, including the Queen’s visits to Colchester in 1985 and 2004 and the famous Colchester Oyster Feast which is held annually.

Churches

Spains Hall is located within the United Benefice of Finchingfield with Cornish Hall End, Shalford and Wethersfield in the Anglican Diocese of Chelmsford.

The Church of England welcomes the opportunity for you to make solemn promises to each other, not just in front of your family and friends, but also in sight of God and with God's blessing.

You do not have to be a regular churchgoer to get married in the Church of England and if you would like to explore the possibility of your marriage taking place in one of the four churches in the benefice, you must first arrange to see the parish priest to discuss your marriage plans.

Spains Hall Accommodation

We are delighted to offer two charming cottages, Crest Lodge and North Lodge, for your exclusive and private hire. Both are situated on the estate within very close walking distance of Spains Hall and The Stables, making them wonderfully convenient for you.

Both Lodges have been recently restored to the highest standard and boast beautifully sumptuous interiors. Each is truly welcoming and has a terrific homely ambiance - we have tried to think of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Tranquil and completely private, we are sure you will find that the Lodges provide the perfect base in which you can relax and unwind at any point during your stay.
