Hornby Institute

Set in the historic and picturesque Lune Valley village of Hornby, overlooked by the mediaeval Hornby Castle and positioned next to the river Lune. Hornby Institute offers a choice of flexible accommodation to suit every wedding and every budget.

Civil Wedding Venue

There is a choice of two beautiful rooms which are licensed for civil wedding ceremonies, the Parkinson Suite and the Foster Suite.

The attractively decorated Foster Suite, with original features dating from 1916, can seat up to 60 for the actual wedding ceremony or equally be used for a more intimate ceremony for about 20 guests followed by a delicious wedding breakfast.

The Parkinson Suite with its art deco ceiling and friezes of 1950's dancers can easily accommodate 120 guests for a banquet or up to 180 guests for a more informal gathering. And with its sprung floor it is perfect for an evening dance. It also has a stage and full lighting rig for use by entertainers of your choice.

The stately and comfortable Carnegie Lounge can be used as a reception room for when guests arrive or as a quiet room for guests to relax.

There is also a dedicated bridal dressing room equipped with en-suite facilities. The fully licensed Millennium Bar provides a further comfortable area for your guests to enjoy the celebrations.

Venue Catering

Catering is flexible with a choice of excellent in-house caterers, with menus to suit all budgets or the option to bring in your own caterers if preferred. All other extras from balloon arches and florist services to personalised stationary and decorative tableware are available if required.

Though there is no in-house accommodation available, we can arrange excellent local accommodation in and around Hornby, discounted taxi rates, local florist services.

With its modern facilities and lift access to both floors, Hornby Institute is both practical and elegant. It is 15 minutes from M6 junction 34 with bus links to Lancaster and main line railway station.
