Description of Sandhole Farm

Sandhole Oak Wedding Barn overlooks an idyllic 6 acre lake set in open rolling Cheshire countryside

This stunning building needs to be seen to be appreciated. The Barn is available for weddings with or without a civil ceremony and will seat up to 150 guests.

The Venue

This unique Oak Barn has been built to a traditional design using high quality workmanship and materials. The oak beams are mellow and impressive in the style of a medieval barn. New oak has been used extensively throughout. Impressive wrought iron cartwheel chandeliers and wall lights have been made by a local blacksmith. Under floor heating ensures a warm welcome while strategically placed feature cast radiators can give an extra boost if needed.

The Civil Ceremony area has a wooden floor, plenty of natural light and beautiful views across the idyllic 6 acre lake. A grand piano is available in this area or you may use the venue’s sophisticated sound system for playing your own CD’s. This area is separated and screened from the dining area by heavy, natural drapes that can be drawn back later. The dining area has a neutral carpet and full length windows overlooking the lake and there is a spacious verandah also overlooking the lake and the open countryside.

Overnight Accommodation is available for your guests, at additional cost, in the restored Stables, the oldest part of which is about 300 years. The bedrooms are both characterful and comfortable with the original oak beams and round pitch-holes sitting happily alongside the comforts that you would expect in a top quality B&B.

Honeymoon Suite

The Granary has been fully restored and is available, with the compliments of the venue, to get ready before a civil ceremony and for overnight accommodation on the night of the wedding. It has a sitting room with dining area, kitchen and en-suite bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom is glamorous with a super king bed.

Catering & Bar

In order to offer you a choice, we have two approved caterers, who provide top quality service and food and have catered for many successful weddings at Sandhole Oak Barn. The characteristic bar is run by the local publican from the Davenport Arms in the nearby village of Marton.

NB It is not possible to use non-approved caterers at this venue.
