The English Wine Centre

The English Wine Centre has a growing reputation for the excellence of our weddings. Our philosophy is to provide the most perfect day, designed to your unique requirements, with a personal touch that ensures everything runs seamlessly. All you will have to do is relax, enjoy it and let the memories begin.

Licensed for civil ceremonies, our seventeenth-century Oak Barn is set amid romantic landscaped gardens with glorious views over the surrounding countryside. From May to September, the addition of a marquee, to decorate as simply or as lavishly as you wish, means 150 guests can be seated for your wedding breakfast. From October to April, the stunning function room in Green Oak Barn can seat 95 guests.

Mark Goodwin, our resident chef, uses only fresh, locally sourced produce for your chosen menu, and you can select a fine English wine to complement each course at a special wine tasting, exclusive to our brides and grooms.

Your bridal party can be accommodated in newly built Green Oak Barn (see below), which offers five luxurious boutique rooms with all modern amenities, and there is ample on-site parking for your guests.

For brides and grooms wanting a church wedding, we are happy to organise a wonderful reception, wedding breakfast and evening event. Charming Berwick and Alfriston churches are a short distance away.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and Christine Munday would be delighted to help you plan your perfect wedding day.

Green Oak Barn Boutique Guest Accommodation

Two twins (one modified for disabled guests), two doubles and one super-king bedroom, all with en-suite bathrooms, offer luxurious accommodation. Each is beautifully appointed and has glorious views of the South Downs.

All rooms feature Hypnos beds dressed in soft linen to ensure guests enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep. The en-suite bathrooms feature either a shower or bath and shower. A choice of full English or continental breakfast is served.

The stylish accommodation has been furnished in the eclectic style of an English country house, with contemporary fabrics selected from leading names including Andrew Martin, Osborne & Little and Mulberry. Adding a special touch, each room contains a specially commissioned painting by Mo Folkes-Miller. The Green Oak Barn is set in gardens designed by the 2010 RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold-winner, Roger Platts.

Flint Barn Restaurant

Enjoy a leisurely lunch or an intimate evening meal in Flint Barn Restaurant. Our menu changes every month and our experienced chefs use local and, where possible, organic produce to create delicious English dishes. Specialist advice is always available to help you select the perfect English wine to complement your chosen meal.

Open daily for lunch and on Friday and Saturday evenings for dinner, Flint Barn is also available to book, day or evening, for small parties of up to 20 people. Larger parties can be catered for in our new Green Oak Barn.

Wine Shop/Wine Tastings

The English Wine Centre has a selection of more than 140 English wines available in our dedicated shop, with our specialists on hand to help you make the perfect selection. Our popular, tutored wine tastings are informative and fun. They take place once a month and include a Sussex lunch in Flint Barn restaurant.
