A Banquet for Every Ceremony

From weddingspot.co.uk 20 05 2011 Everything to know about wedding banquets

The variety of ceremonies that are celebrated today give rise to an equal variety of banquets to match the occasion. If you have already decided upon your ceremony, then here are the keys to defining the perfect banquet.

Nowadays, you can have the wedding of your dreams and a wedding banquet that adapts to your tastes and pocket along with it.  Let's have a quick look at some of the most common ceremonies and their possible banquets.

  • Let's start with the traditional ceremony, which is usually accompanied with an equally traditional banquet. It is held at a restaurant and consists of a welcome drink and aperitif outside the dining room.  The guests are then shown to their tables and are served the first dish, sorbet, second dish and sometimes even a third. In some cases dessert is served before the wedding cake. During the dance, behind the free bar and after the food has gone down, something savoury like small sandwiches or sweet like warm hot chocolate is served so that everyone can hold out until the early hours.

  • If the wedding is in the open air, such as a rural or beach ceremony, we recommend a buffet style banquet.  The food is distributed among one or more tables and others with chairs leaving everyone to sit where they choose.  This type of banquet is more informal and allows the guests to chat and interact without the limitations of numbered tables and a seating plan.
  • If the ceremony is on a beach at night for example, you could opt for a lighter buffet consisting of  a small aperetif,  second dish and wedding cake.  We eat less in the heat and being at night, we do not fancy gorging ourselves.

  • Finally, if you have decided to go for a low cost wedding, we suggest holding a banquet with a cocktail, aperetif and a picnic to thank your guests for attending. In this case, we advise that you make it clear on the invitations to avoid confusion among the guests.

The most important is to share the happiness that we are feeling on this day, doing so in your own style and within your possibilities without losing sight of what is most important.
