Care for the Delicate Eye Area Before Your Wedding

From weddingspot.co.uk 30 10 2011 Health and Beauty

The delicate eye area is the most sensitive area of your face and deserves special attention to ward off signs of ageing or tiredness. Lets have a look at some of the basic care the eyes require to keep them looking their best on the big day.

The skin around eye area is up to ten times thinner than the skin on the rest of the face and needs special daily care. The fineness of the skin here makes it vulnerable to wrinkles whether they are caused by genetic factors, age or very expressive personalities. Environmental pollution, UV rays or poor personal care can also have an effect on the area making it prone to bags and dark circles.

Bags under the eyes are caused by poor circulation in the lymphatic system caused by retention of liquid. Lack of sleep, stress, too much alcohol or cigarette smoking can also worsen this problem.

Fatty deposits can also cause bags. These are thought to be due to a build up of toxins in the body and are a sign of a liver that needs to be detoxified.

Dark circles are caused by pigmentation or a lack of good circulation around the eyes. The skin is so fine that the underlying blood shows through and looks like a shadow.

To look after this area, you need to use products that drain, decongest and firm up the area. Aloe Vera, tomato, and cucumber have ant-inflammatory properties that can sooth swelling. White tea is good for getting rid of dark pigment, while camomile and calendula also calm and sooth. The less perfumes and colours an eye cream has, the better.

If you are worried about crows feet, Argan oil, which is rich in vitamin E, is an excellent antioxidant. Myrrh and pomegranate oil are also great oils for reaffirming flaccid skin.

However, creams don't work by magic; you must have good habits like a gentle massage around the area before bed. Do this by massaging the eyes in a gentle circular motion for two minutes each, lie drawing imaginary glasses on your face, starting on the inner corner and moving outwards.

You should also eat well, plenty of fresh raw fruit and veg rich in betacarotin, drink plenty of liquids, get plenty of sleep, wear sunglasses and take computer breaks.
