Heart Brooches as Wedding Favours

Finding the perfect wedding favours is always a headache, but for this occasion, we present to you this tutorial that we are sure will be a hit with your guests: heart brooches.

Brooches are very fashionable wedding favours for guests these days. They are so versitle and come in an array of shapes, styles, colours, materials, and sizes, so they are perfect for a stylish, friendly, ultra-chic look.

I suggest you take on this trend and make some of these heart-shaped, felt, pillow brooches. The materials you will need are the following:

Felt in the colour of your choice
Needle
Course thread in a colour to match the felt, can be a contrasting colour
Doll stuffing
Brooch clasps
Scissors
Pencil
Pattern for medium sized heart, can be cut out of cardboard
Optional: hot glue for attaching brooch clasp, but you can sew it on too

First, mark the felt hearts in pencil using the pattern.

Cut out the two hearts and sew the back of the brooch clasp to one of them. You can also hot glue it on, however you like.

Sew the two hearts together, making sure the clasp is on the outside. Follow the shape of the heart, keeping each stitch equally separated and the same distance from the edge of the heart. Leave a part of the heart unsewn with space to stuff the inside of the heart.

Once you've filled the heart all the way, sew the rest of it shut and you have your hearts ready! Another idea is, with scissors, cut the hearts with a zig zag edge to produce this end result:

So now you know what you can do if you want to get your guests something that has come from your heart, something you've put your time and effort into. I'm sure they will love it and your budget will too!
