With basic ingredients that can be found at home and are very easy to prepare, these recipes are ideal for setting aside an afternoon for yourself.

Papaya Exfoliant

The enzymes that are found in its skin are exfoliating agents that eliminate dead skin cells and help to get rid of marks and scars.

  • a ripe papaya

Peel the papaya and use the inside of the skin to exfoliate the complexion.

Oatmeal Face Mask

Suitable for all skin types. You will need:

  • 4 spoons of oats
  • 1 spoon of Brewer's Yeast
  • 1 spoon of rose musk oil
  • 2 spoons of floral water

Add the ingredients one by one in a bowl and mix them together to create an even paste. Apply it to the complexion with circular motions and leave it to act for 20 minutes. Remove with a damp cloth and apply floral water to leave the skin feeling smooth.

Floral Water

This natural tonic leaves skin feeling smooth before and after any make-up is applied. The regenerative properties of roses and the healing properties of lavender are ideal for all skin types.

  • a handful of fresh rose petals
  • a handful of lavender
  • 200ml of distilled water

In an opaque glass bottle (to avoid the breakdown of the properties) add the flowers and the distilled water. Leave to soak for two weeks in a dark place and then filter. Apply to the face daily with cotton wool. This floral water can be kept for a maximum of one month.

Yoghurt and Honey Face Mask

The exfoliating and regenerating action of lactic acid which is found in yoghurt and the vitamins and minerals of honey, give life and elasticity back to dull, tired skin whilst leaving it deeply cleansed and soft.

  • 2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 6 drops of lemon juice or a drop of lemon essential oil

Melt the honey in a bain marie. When it has turned to liquid, add the lemon juice or essential oil and the yoghurt. Mix together and apply to the skin straight away with a soft brush. Leave it to act for 20 minutes and remove with a damp cloth. Follow with rosewater toner and apply your normal face cream.

Potato Poultice

Everyone knows that applications of infusions such as camomile or green tea improves bags under the eyes. But there is also an effective potato based remedy.

  • aloe vera gel
  • half a raw potato

Grate the raw potato and mix it with the aloe vera gel (preferably recently extracted from the plant). Put it in a poultice gauze and place it on both eyes whilst lying down for 10 minutes.
