One tradition, which began in the United States, was to put the last tier of your wedding cake, or a small piece, in the freezer to be eaten on the first anniversary. The taste will bring back yummy memories. Talk to your cake maker to see what kind of cake is best frozen, and which should not be frozen.
A very romantic idea is to dine at the restaurant or venue where you celebrated your wedding reception. You could also recreate your first date together. Again, this will bring back lovely memories to both of you and you can cheers to many more to come.
Purchasing a gift is also a form of celebration. It needn't be a physical gift, you can purchase experience packages that you can both share, like going diving, race car racing, or taking a wine tasting course, anything that you would enjoy doing together.
You can also plan a romantic getaway, even if just for a few days or a weekend. Enjoy those special, intimate moments together. How about a bubble bath with champagne and strawberries? A massage at a spa? The important thing is to have fun and enjoy the quality time together.
