Let your flowers do the talking
Flowers have their own language that in days gone by helped to express feelings without having to use words. It’s a tradition that dates back to the ancient East and reached its peak during the Romantic period....
Every flower symbolises something specific. Due to the strict codes of conduct about expressing emotions and true feelings, Lovers at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th Century placed a great deal of importance on carefully selecting flowers to convey a particular meaning or emotion.
Although these days, the tradition has been somewhat lost, weddings are the perfect excuse to maintain this olden day practice and really think about what message you want to portray with your flowers...

Here are some examples:
Roses: one of the most widely recognized symbols of love, magic and passion. They represent beauty and perfection and are seen to express an eternal love. They symbolize happiness, spiritual growth and grace. Roses of darker tones are believed to represent thanks and appreciation. Pink roses are seen as an offering of allusive admiration and sympathy and white roses of innocence, purity, reverence and humility. Finally, yellow roses symbolize joy and gratitude and send a message of ‘think of me’.
Daisies: symbolize innocence, purity, friendship loyal love, beauty, patience and simplicity
Tulips: in general are seen as an expression of respect and fidelity and more specifically, red tulips as a subtle declaration of love. Yellow tulips represent a love that is hopeless.
Jasmine: symbolizes attachment, sensuality, modesty, grace and elegance.
Lilies: white lilies represent purity, innocence and joyfulness and the yellow lily is associated with unique beauty
Poppies: symbolize individuality, and are perfect for lovers who don’t conform
Gardenias: are symbolic of secret love, purity and refinement.
Orchids: are associated with love, beauty, refinement, fertility and thoughtfulness.
