Dissociated diets are being turned to more and more thanks to their great effectiveness and that they are very easy to maintain in practice, as you can eat practically all types of food as long as you do not mix.

Dissociated diets are gaining supporters. We usually turn to them when our usual diet losses effectiveness. But they should never be followed for long periods of time and must always be supervised under strict medical control.

These types of diets are based on not combining proteins and fat (meat, fish, eggs and dairy) with carbohydrates  (rice, pasta, pulses, potato, bread and its derivatives) in the same meal. The objective of this diet is to unblock the fat deposits in the organism by means of an extra metabolic effort which induces it to burn the glycogen reserves and eliminate water.

Dissociated diets allow six meals a day and do not restrict the quantity of food, as long as it is within reasonable limits. For this reason, they are very comfortable to follow because they only prohibit mixing food groups, therefore the patient does not feel hungry.

As for the duration of the diet, it will be determined by a doctor, as it will depend on such factors as the BMI of the patient, previous treatments, expectations, morphology, etc.

Advantages

  • With dissociated diets, the weight loss is usually quite quick and they are very effective, especially to reduce volume.

Aspects to take into consideration

  • This type of diet is very useful to lose weight quickly, but it must always be done under medical supervision to guarantee both the effectiveness and safety of the patient. Furthermore, just as any other diet, if started on your own, it is not exempt from the feared “rebound” effect. To avoid it, the nutritionist or endocrinologist should design a control diet to follow the dissociated one, to consolidate the results and re-educate the eating habits and lifestyle of the patient.
