Sport...our best ally!
Exercise is one of the most fundamental factors to shift excess weight. You can eat less but if you don’t remove the stored fat first it’s much more difficult and time consuming to reach your ideal weight. Read on for some exercise inspiration…
Any type of exercise is positive and making small changes to your everyday routine can start the ball rolling towards getting into shape for your wedding day. Walking or cycling to work rather than taking the bus, using the stairs instead of the lift, even begin more active with the household cleaning can help burn a few more calories. If you don’t normally lead an active lifestyle, start with something light and gradually build intensity as your body becomes more accustomed to exercising. The key to effective weight control is to do some form of exercise little and often.

Exercising has a lot more benefits than just burning calories…
- It can actually help to reduce feelings of hunger and many people who exercise regularly find they eat less.
- It helps speed up the metabolism meaning that food in the body is processed more efficiently
- It helps maintain a good musculoskeletal structure which means less aches and pains
- It reduces the likelihood of suffering chronic illnesses; heart attacks and stroke, osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and increased blood cholesterol.
- The chemicals released in the brain during exercise can help improve your mood, reduce anxiety and stress levels and help you to sleep better at night.
- It can actually give you more energy than before! Physical exercise helps improve your circulation resulting in the muscles receiving more oxygen and nutrients which in turn helps to counteract feelings of sluggishness.
- It doesn’t have to be done on your own. Why not get active with your partner or friends to make things more fun.
Experts recommend that everyone should do 20-60 minutes of daily exercise and this can include anything aerobic: walking, swimming, riding a bike, dancing, running, playing tennis, football, the list goes on. Start with 10 – 15 minute sessions and try and vary what you do to avoid getting bored quickly. Put some energizing songs on your iPod and start today!
For more noticeable results make sure that you combine your exercise with a healthy diet. Advice from a nutritionist will help you tailor your diet to your body type and ensure that you lose weight safely and effectively.
