Tips for Keeping in Shape in the Summer
A lot of people think it's harder to stick to a healthy diet during the summer due to a change in routine and a more sedentary lifestyle, but they are wrong. If you want to know how to keep in shape during the holiday season, read on.

With rising temperatures, the body's nutritional needs are different and we have to modify our diets a bit. It's common, for example, to have less of an appetite than normal and to want lighter and fresher foods such as fruit and cold soups.
This scenario is perfect for continuing with a diet you have already started or simply maintaining a healthy diet without much effort. However, our social lives tend to become busier in the summer months and we eat out more often, whether at the beach or in restaurants.
Departing from a diet for a meal or two out with friends is normal, and we shouldn't torture ourselves about it. The secret is to compensate with the rest of your meals and return to the diet as soon as you can. Also, there are some tricks that will allow you to enjoy the summer to the max without making too much of an effort:

- If you want to have an ice cream without feeling guilty about it afterwards, go for a frozen yoghurt. They are really healthy and delicious!
- It's advisable to avoid beer and sugary drinks. Instead, order an iced coffee, a tea or cold water.
- It's not good to snack between mealtimes, but if you must, forget crisps and dried fruit. There's nothing better than pickled gherkins or a piece of fruit to dispel hunger.
- Always carry a bottle of water.
- In fast-food restaurants there is now a lot to choose from and you can also buy salads and low-calorie meals.
- If you are eating on the beach, the best thing to do is take pieces of sliced fruit, which as well as not being fattening, are also re-hydrating. If you choose to go for a sandwich, make sure you have turkey or cooked ham on wholemeal bread.
