Wedding in Las Vegas

By weddingspot.co.uk, 12/08/11 Before the wedding

Getting married in Las Vegas is an option that more and more couples like, not only for originality of the ceremony, but also because it is fun and practically in private.

It is becoming more fashionable to get married in Las Vegas and it is a completely original way of saying “I do”, moreover, you’ll do it in an incredibly magical city and will probably have the best wedding night possible, surrounded by glamour, parties and famous people everywhere.

It is also the best option if you want to seal your engagement privately and without having a big party or a reception in which you would have loads of commitments that would cost a lot of money. Bear in mind the following advice for having your wedding in Las Vegas.

  • The first is choosing the date, as you will be organising your trip based on this. On public holidays, there are usually a lot of people and you can queue for up to five hours (on Valentine's Day), so the is a day that will be any given day for the rest but a special one for the both of you, such as the date of your first kiss, or when one of you declared their love for the other.
  • Between May and September, the temperature in Las Vegas is usually around 40ºc, so do try and avoid these dates as it is too hot and you won’t enjoy your day as much as you should.
  • As for the outfit, you must decide if you want to get married “a la Elvis and Marilyn” or with a classic wedding dress. Whatever you decide, you won’t be taking the clothes from here as there are loads of places in Las Vegas where you can hire clothes for this special night. That said, whenever it is, no sleeves, it never gets cold there.
  • It is important that you know that it is not like in the films where you just arrive and get married. There are certain legal requirements to be fulfilled, although being over 18 years of age is usually sufficient. The tax is usually around $100.
  • If you go alone and don’t have any witnesses, there is usually someone in the chapels in Las Vegas who can fill that role.
  • The duration is usually half an hour at the most, depending on the type of ceremony that you choose. In special cases, you can request more time, but it will end up more expensive and I don’t think it worthwhile.

If you are after something original and intimate, without a doubt, a wedding in Las Vegas is one of the best solutions.
